Lowell Observatory Field Trip

Wow! What an amazing field trip! It's been 5 days and still the topic of many conversations! If you've never been to Lowell Observatory, then you are missing out! They have many amazing tours and exhibits.
This year is The Year of Pluto at the Observatory. Did you know Pluto was discovered right here in Flagstaff? Amazing! Did you know that this year Pluto will make its orbit closest to Earth!? Here Travis is telling us about Percival Lowell, the man who discovered Pluto.

We've arrived at Pluto!

Visiting the Pluto Telescope! This is the actual telescope that discovered Pluto!

To discover Pluto, Lowell used film and overexposed it for 10 months.

Once he studied the film, he noticed that something began to move. It was the planet Pluto!
