Welcome to Homecoming Week! Nothing I love more than some Friday Night Football!!
To celebrate Homecoming Week, we are showing our spirit in a variety of ways! On Monday, we focused on Crazy T-Shirt Day. I wore my favorite *NSYNC Concert Tee from the early age of 2000. I was 16 when NSYNC hit it big and I was a big, big fan!
I loved seeing our crazy t-shirts! Here's a look at what we wore!

Buy Our Products!
We see persuasive language everywhere! Buy This! ONLY $19.99!! Get it while you can!!! In fact, every commercial is persuading you in one way or another to buy their product.
As a way to apply our knowledge of persuasive language, students created their very own commercials!
Take a look below! Did they convince you to buy their product?!

MIGHTY muscles
Since we have been learning about the human body, it was time to put our muscles to the test. Using this worksheet:
students had to use a chair to complete as many push ups as they could at one time without resting! Our class average was 30 pushups, which is really quite great!! We had one student complete 110 push-ups!! AMAZING!!!!
Then, we took a short break to finish the math in the first column and did it again. You would think that the kids' arms would be EXHAUSTED from doing those pushups, but for the trial 2 we did even better! One student even did 122 pushups!! That means he did 232 pushups in one day!!!!!!!!!!!
Take a look at our pictures below! They are really using their muscles!!!

September Students of the Month!
I don't know whether this was planned or not, but our Students of the Month are Alex and Alexia!! :)
I'm soooo excited to have them take the reigns for this month! They are both amazing kids with great big hearts and great attitudes! I couldn't ask for a better team to lead us through September!

Homework ALERT!!!
Dear Parents--
We have quite a few kids coming home with a pretty large math packet for homework. This homework is to help them with their speed drills for adding and subtracting whole numbers.
Every day we complete DMS (Daily Math Skills). Think of it like a timed test. In the 2 minutes, students are expected to complete all 64 problems using either addition or subtraction. If they complete anywhere between 45-64 problems, that is considered passing. Anything 44 or below is not passing.
The students bringing home these large packets did not pass the timed portion for both week 1 and week 2 of DMS. It is imperative that they work on increasing their score within the 2 minute time limit. Please practice with them using a timer. It is a total of 10 pages at 2 minutes apiece will take a total of 20 minutes to complete. Find time during this 4 day weekend to work on these skills.
Thanks!
Mrs. T

August Students of the Month!
Hello Everyone!
Welcome back to a great new year!
I wanted to start off our blog posts with a small blurb about our Students of the Month, Elizabeth and Zander.
Each month two students are chosen to be our Students of the Month. In addition to having their baby pictures showcased in our window bulletin board, these students are also picked for extra rewards, prizes, assist as teacher's helper, and act as monitor in the hallways and the classrooms. Being Student of the Month is an extremely important job. They may help plan parties, popsicle Fridays for good attendance, or help think of class rewards.
I'm so lucky to have started off this 2014-2015 school year with such great examples like Elizabeth and Zander!
