It's Almost That Time!!!!!!!!!

For the first time EVER I will be teaching 7th and 8th graders. This makes me extremely happy and a little bit nervous. I am excited because I love the subjects that I am teaching--History and Dance. Social Studies (or History) is a great subject to learn about. Not only are you able to learn about the cultures that influence our nation, but why we have certain rules or laws and how YOU can make a difference and shape the history of our nation. Dance is another class that I am very excited to teach. In high school, I took several dance classes competing in regional and national dance competitions.

I'll admit that it is a little bit nerve-wracking to change your path so suddenly. After 8 years teaching 5th grade, I'm now venturing into new territory. But, I know the change was very much needed. As much as I loved 5th grade, I was ready for something new.

I hope you are all enjoying your summer. I'll make a separate post about that later! If you're out in cyberspace, give me a little hey in the comments below!

Only 13 days until school starts back!!!!!!!!!!!!!

POOL PARTY!

Leaving Hulet is a big step. Our promotion party is one way that we can celebrate our kiddos and let them know how much we appreciate their hard work throughout the year. Take a look at our video below and check out some individual pictures too!

Family Fun & Fitness

Every year Hulet hosts the Family Fun & Fitness Night. This night is geared to show parents and kids fun activities and healthy eating habits. Getting outside and exercising can be easy! Take a walk around the neighborhood. Bring a soccer ball to play at one of our many parks.
Eating healthy can be easy too! All you need to do is eat fresh fruits and veggies at every meal. Eating a bowl of oatmeal, why not add a couple berries or slices of banana? Want a PB&J sandwich for lunch? Try adding a side of veggies, like sugar snap peas. Sometimes it can be hard to eat fresh fruits and veggies, especially when Butterfingers taste so delicious! That's why it's important to take small steps towards your goal.
This summer think of ways that you can make fitness fun with your family!

Unfortunately, Mrs. T was dealing with a very unhealthy 5 year old at home and was unable to come and enjoy the Family Fitness Night! HOWEVER, our class did set up the obstacle course for the night's event and I did manage to snap a few pictures!

Enjoy!

Spring Concert

Mrs. Self does a wonderful job teaching all of the students at Hulet how to count rhythm, recognize notes on a scale, and how to recognize pitch (sharp or flat). These skills take lots of practice and happen over the course of a year (or even three years!). Students are able to master these concepts thanks in large part to our wonderful music teacher!

Here are some behind-the-scenes pictures of our night:

May Students of the Month

"Save the best for last" is only a cliche because it's true! Look at our Students of the Month for May! Dominik and Brandon are sweet kids that love learning and having a good time! We love celebrating Brandon and Dominik because they have a unique outlook on life and the future. Brandon wants to be a singer or a magician when he grows up and Dominik would love to design video games one day! It's going to be sad when May is over, because we have LOVED celebrating these two awesome dudes!

Earth Day 2015

We only have one Earth! We must take care of it!

Our week-long science unit explored recycling and how to care for our planet! As a culmination event, the 5th graders from Hulet took a walking field trip down the streets of Holbrook in an attempt to clean up our community!
