Awesome Plant & Animal Cells

We have been studying plants and animals during this first month of school. As a project, students were asked to draw and label a plant and animal cell. The parts of the cell are very difficult to see under even the strongest microscope! Lucky for us, we have AMAZING artists that were able to capture the cell perfectly!

Homework Alert (and rules of the trade).

This blog is usually one of the best ways to find out about your child's work. I will usually post on the blog when there are a majority of kids taking home one assignment. You can also check your child's homework folder for work too!
Using these devices I am asking that the responsibility be shared between teacher-student and student-parent. This ensures that we are all aware of the work needing to be accomplished for the school year.

Tonight, your child MIGHT have homework in the following areas:
  • Animal Cells: We read pages 24-25 and answered questions 7-12
  • Writing: Sentence Blocks Practice. Students were asked to use an average sentence, add descriptive words/verbs, and color a picture. Some students were not able to finish in the allotted time and have it for homework.
  • Grammar: Finish the bottom of L2. 6-12.
  • Vocabulary: Write each word 3 times each.

As I mentioned, some students have completed this work. Those that have not will need to complete it by tomorrow.

Failure to complete homework will result in loss of recess.

Thanks for helping your child succeed at home!

August Students of the Month!

We are getting right into the swing of things this school year! I am very excited for the new changes in our classroom. One of our newest adventures is having students of the month. The students of the month will be responsible for helping the teacher, running errands, delivering notes to the office, and so on... They will also be chosen for any fun activities that we may have during their month.

For the month of August, we have Isaac and Hannah!

They each brought in a picture of themselves as young children, some artifacts, and told us about their favorite things. Take a look at your Peek-at-the-Week for more information!
